Haryana's Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, announced that Gohana in Sonepat is set to be declared the 23rd district of Haryana. This announcement was made during the 626th birth anniversary celebration of Saint Kabir Das in Gohana.

  • Committee Formation: A committee has been established to finalize the formation of new districts. It will submit its report within three months, after which Gohana will be officially declared a district.
  • Infrastructure Development: The CM announced the construction of a chowk named after Saint Kabir in Gohana, allocation of ₹31 lakh for a library and langar hall, and the initiation of a bypass on the Rohtak-Jind road.
  • Government Initiatives: The CM highlighted several welfare schemes, including the Haryana Antyodaya Parivar Parivahan Yojana (HAPPY) which offers free travel up to 1000 km annually in Haryana State Transport buses to economically disadvantaged families, and the Chirayu Yojana, providing free medical treatment up to ₹5 lakh per year.

Saint Kabir Das:

Kabir Das, a 15th-century mystic poet and social reformer, played a significant role in the Bhakti movement. Born in Varanasi, his teachings continue to influence millions through the Panth of Kabir.
