Over the years, he has served in various key positions, including India's ambassador to Spain (2014-2016) and Myanmar (2016-2018). His most notable role was as India's ambassador to China from 2019 to 2021, during which he played a pivotal role in managing the India-China relations amid the Ladakh border standoff and the Galwan Valley clashes.

Roles and Achievements

Misri has the rare distinction of having served as private secretary to three Prime Ministers: Inder Kumar Gujral, Manmohan Singh, and Narendra Modi. In January 2022, he joined the National Security Council Secretariat, where he reported to NSA Ajit Doval. His expertise in China is expected to be particularly valuable as India navigates complex international relations and seeks to bolster its global standing.

Future Appointments

As Misri steps into his new role, Jawed Ashraf, India's ambassador to France, is anticipated to replace him as Deputy NSA. Additionally, the government is in the process of appointing new envoys to the US and New Delhi’s permanent representative to the United Nations.
